Faces of Violence: Acid Attacks

Photos courtesy of Huffington Post

In the Middle East, the prevalence of acid attacks on women is widespread and very common. According to CNN, there were some 185 attacks on women and girls in Afghanistan just last year in protest of their desire for education.

This type of violence is spreading to other parts of the globe. The Huffington Post documents at least 100 of these attacks on women just last month alone in the South American country of Colombia. These attacks are not only directed towards women as men have been victimized as well. Farooq, pictured below, has a picture of himself before his attack in Pakistan. This sort of crime is an injustice to the human race as a whole and it must be stopped.

We were watching hotel rawanda an although it's a movie , those type of things are happening EVERYDAY across the world. 1. I was shocked when I seen the statistics! I don't think many people know how often it happens, but it's never to late to be aware and take action. I seen Hotel Rwanda too, it's a great movie.

  2. I am so glad that you are giving a voice to the many faces of violence in the world.People need to be informed. Really good job. I wish I was shocked by this, but I am not. The more information you can put on the site the better. I think it will really help shed some light on these issues.

  3. Thanks for sharing and reminding many of us how grateful and thankful we should be to not have to deal with this terrible violence. My heart goes out to those men, women and children. May God continue to use you and strengthen you. Stay encouraged and keep sowing "good" seeds.

  8. Oh wow, yes thank you for sharing. I honestly had no idea that this was even going on. It is so very sad and it's even more upsetting because these individuals are not just getting attacked for desiring better education but honestly for desiring equality as a whole. I will be definitely keeping these countries lifted in prayer!

  9. I did not know that this was going on, I am sick at the fact that they are being tormented because they want to be educated, yet we have the free will and majority will not go, would rather drop out. Disgusted.

  10. yea,...damn. i imagine the large majority of us agree this is "f*%# up." Do you know *why* these criminals are attempting to stop folks from learning??

In addition to increasing awareness, what can we as Americans do to help??
