1 Million Documents: Why Julian Assange Is A Hero

Julian Assange spoke from the Ecuadorian embassy yesterday and declared that in early 2013 Wikileaks would release one million documents. They are being released to inform the public because they are "documents that affect every country in this world," he proclaimed. He has been inside the embassy in London for six months in fear of being taken into custody under false pretenses. Not only is he risking his freedom in exchange for every single person to become completely aware of what he says are injustices committed by governments, he is risking his life and for that he is a hero.

What do you think of Assange's courage? What do you think the documents will contain?

2012: Realization of Purpose & Humanity

As we reach the end of the year, we notice every day that things are changing; mostly for the worse. Famine, mass shootings, unemployment, economic collapse, civil war, nuclear war threats, police brutality, homelessness, and natural disasters all mark what we experience every day. While I'm not sure if it is the end of the world, 2012 is a time to become aware of your purpose in life and of your responsibility to help and love others. Edgar Cayce, an early 1900's psychic said you should look at the top four or five things that you are talented at, and therein lies your purpose in life; I agree.

What are you most passionate about? What are your talents? You have a purpose to fulfill in this life; tap into what you are most passionate about.

Two Children Buried Today, Newtown, CT Mourns

Jack Pinto and Noah Pozner are being buried today in Newtown, Connecticut as the town and nation mourns the lives of those lost in the horrific tragedy, the Chicago Tribune is reporting. Both boys were six years old. As the nation questions what could have driven a person to commit such a heinous act, one thing is for certain; we must not forget those who lost their lives that day to such violence.

An Honor Killing

I touched her long, flowing black hair
We both knew she had but a moment to spare
Fighting to live, fighting for love
Her eyes told a story of exhaust and despair
She had been fighting for rights
That simply weren't there
Sent to death for loving a man
The invisible ropes tied around her
were no more loose than the one placed around her neck
For the last time
She looked out at a culture
that says you're not free
Who would witness this injustice
But refuse to speak
Lost in their tradition
And misconception of honor
Another woman slain
Her cries whistled in the breeze
The plight of these women
Speaks volumes to me

14-Year-Old Pakistani Girl Freed From Blasphemy Charges

Pakistan has dropped blasphemy charges against Rimsha Masih, a 14-year-old Pakistani Christian with down syndrome. Masih was previously accused by a Muslim cleric of ripping and burning pages of the Qu'ran however it came to light that the cleric himself ripped the pages and framed Rimsha. After the findings, he was charged with blasphemy, which is punishable by death in Pakistan.

Unfortunately, although the allegations were proven to be absolutely false citizens may still seek "justice" of their own against Rimsha as there are deep-rooted tensions between Christians and Muslims in the area.. Her family has been persecuted since this event unfolded.

VIDEO: Does Netanyahu Care What America Thinks?

In a short video, Netanyahu is seen giving his stance on the Palestinians and the U.S and is obviously unaware that the camera is rolling.

When asked if he was afraid of what the itnernational community would think and do in regards to Israel creating an all out war on the Palestinians, he states, ""The world won't say a thing. I know what America is. America is something that can easily be moved. Moved to the right direction. They won't get in our way. They won't get in our way."

Although this video is years old, it clearly shows his stance on the international community regarding the actions of Israel and his plans for the Palestinian people.

Italy, Turkey Recognize Rebels As Head of Syria, France May Arm Them With Weapons In The Future

As of today, Italy, Germany, the U.S, France, and Turkey have all come forward to announce the recognition of the Syrian opposition council as the representatives for Syria. According to montrealgazette.com, France is the only country in which has given Syria diplomatic recognition and has made it known it might arm the rebels with weapons against the Assad regime.

Russia and China are still against arming the rebels with heavy weapons, and rightfully so. "One of the things we have to be on guard about... is that we're not indirectly putting arms in the hands of folks who would do Americans harm," President Obama stated on Wednesday. Providing the rebels with weapons could very much increase the likelihood of other countries being on alert of an attack as a result.

As the death toll reaches 40,000 in Syria due to the civil war, we must keep our eyes on the tragedies happening and rally to ensure that significant positive changes are made for the people of Syria.

UPDATE: Cambodia, the Arab League, Scotland, Afghanistan, Russia, South Koreans, the Congress of South Africa Trade Unions (COSATU), and Reporters Without Borders all have come forward to condemn the Israeli airstrikes. There has been increasing global support for the people of Gaza. Rallies have been held in places all over the world including NYC, Paris, Algeria, Canada, Lebanon, Rome, Istanbul, and Madrid just to name a few.

Tunisia, Syria, Pakistan, Malaysia, Iran, Turkey, and Egypt among others have all condemned the airstrikes against Gaza. Some have called for the UN Security Council and the Arab League to call meetings and immediately resolve violence in the area.

We cannot turn our backs on these atrocities. The world is watching Gaza and will not be silent.

Russia & China Warn France & Other Western Powers Against Arming & Aiding Syrian Rebels

France has recently come out as the only Western power to acknowledge Syrian rebels as the official rep for Syria, disregarding Syria's president Bashar al-Assad and the government that is already in place. France even went as far as to say they are looking at the option of arming the army to fight against al-Assad. However, Russia and China have both publicly come out to warn France and other world powers against doing so.

The Syrian War has already seen 38, 000 people killed and 2.5 million displaced. France is looking into arming a movement that is bombing children's hospitals and innocent civilians; this is only asking for more unneccessary violence in the region.

Lamaa was a 5 year old girl from Saudia Arabia who was just as beautiful as she was bright. Sadly, she was tortured to death by her own father with the use of electrical shocks, whips and a hot iron. Her arms were broken and she sustained a skull fracture and head injuries as a result of the attack. This video takes a deep, interesting look at Sharia Law and human rights abuses. Interesting; and equally overwhelming.

What Humanity Wants

I seen this and believe it really speaks for what humanity as a whole ultimately wants; peace and justice for all. When you turn on the news, look at the world around you, or your own circumstances you see that the world is headed into the opposite direction and will only worsen over time. We do have the power to change this and it starts with each and every one of us; we're all in the race for humanity.

October: Domestic Violence Awareness

Every single day in the U.S, at least three women are killed at the hands of their boyfriends or husbands as a result of domestic violence, according to domesticviolencestatistics.org. The site also notes that every year, 10 million children see domestic violence take place in their homes, which in turn directly effects their outlook and role in future relationships. These statistics are alarming. Awareness of domestic violence is not limited to the month of October; this is a deeper issue in which we should all pay attention to in an effort to stop it.

Chances are you know someone who is or has been a victim of domestic violence. Reach out to that person, assist in any way that you can. Whatever you do, do not be silent about the issue. Many women are embarrassed as they thought "this would never happen to me." I, myself, was a victim of domestic violence and thought the same thing. Change happens when you break the cycle of abuse. Do your part to stop this violence.

French Magazine To Publish "Nude Images" of Prophet Muhammad On Wednesday

After recent widespread riots felt around the world and as far as Australia over a film depicting Prophet Muhammad, a French magazine is set to cause a similar uproar on Wednesday. The magazine, Charlie Hebdo, says that it will post "explicit images" of the Prophet Muhammad on Wednesday and cites freedom of speech as its reasoning for moving forward with the publication. Muslims consider images of the Prophet Muhammad to be blasphemy and punishment for this, in many middle eastern regions, is death. After an anti-Muslim film was released by an American many Muslims protested in cities across the world while chanting "Death To America." According to ABC News, there are more Muslims in France than in any other European country so the effects of moving forward with this publication could mean devastation in this area.

The anti-Muslim film resulted in lives being taken. Whether you are religious or not, everyone has the right to freedom of speech. But does the right to mock a religion take precedence over respect for the religions/beliefs of others? When you consider doing so will result in the loss of innocent human life, is acting on this freedom justified or at all worth it? What are your thoughts?

Israel-Iran War: Is Time Running Out?

Pressure for Iran to discontinue its nuclear program is longstanding. Israel has stated that they prefer to go to war with Iran before the start of the U.S November elections. Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has stated on more than one occasion that Israel must be "wiped from the map." Israeli government officials feel Iran's nuclear program is a threat to the entire state of Israel and that military action must be taken against Iran. On Tuesday Al Jazeera reports that the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu asked, "The world tells Israel: Wait, there's still time. And I say: wait for what? Wait until when?"

The number of casualties would be devastating as a result of war between Israel and Iran and would be felt by the entire world. It is a dire situation in which the international community is closely watching and many feel will cause World War 3. Is a war imminent?

Texas School District Requires Students To Carry RFID Implanted ID Cards

For a Texas school district, it is required that students carry identification card. Well, nothing is new or unusual about this except that the card now has an RFID chip implanted in it that tracks the student's movements and it must be worn at all times. Some parents and students are outraged as they see this as invasion of privacy by those in power and something that will become more widespread. A video via AOL serviced on the subject and a Christian girl and her father go on to say it violates their religious rights as they think it is the mark of the beast.

Here is a link for the video:

What do you think about the RFID chip and the Christian family's opinion of the ID cards?

Turkish Woman Beheads Husband's Cousin; Alleges Rape

A 26-year-old Turkish woman shot and beheaded her husband's cousin over allegations that he continously raped her over eight months. She is now pregnant by the man and is sitting in jail awaiting her fate. Although she is alleging rape, she was in danger of being seriously hurt or killed had it come to light that she was pregnant by her husband's cousin. Turkey is a country in which women are responsible for their families honor, and dishonor usually results in death.

Pakistani Girl Charged With Blasphemy Let Out On Bail

Rimsha Masih is a young Christian girl whom was arrested and charged with blasphemy in August after she was accused of ripping pages of the Quran. In Pakistan, the penalty for blasphemy is death. It has come to light that a Muslim cleric, Khalid Jadoon, ripped the pages himself and placed them in Rimsha's belongings. On Saturday, Rimsha was let out on bail and flown via helicopter to be with her family to avoid citizens of the area taking 'justice into their own hands' and seriously hurting or killing her. It's interesting to note that the charges against Rimsha have not been dropped. According to the Daily Mail, The UK is looking to grant asylum to Rimsha and her family and this would help her to avoid going to trial. Even if Rimsha is acquitted of all charges, this case speaks volumes as to the fate of Christians still in the area, although many have left since Rimsha's arrest.

http://cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2012/09/04/walsh-syria-aleppo-girl-shot.cnn

This is a sad reality of what the people of Syria face everyday. This video from CNN details the day that a 4 year girl was shot in the face as she sat on her mother's lap inside of her home. Later that day, she was dead. Just last week alone, UNICEF is reporting that 1600 people died in Syria. CNN is reporting that 100, 000 Syrians fled the country during the month of August alone due to the war. When is enough, enough? As many as 100 Syrians are being killed daily; emergency help from the international community is what this country needs now.

11-Year Old Girl With Down Syndrome Framed By Muslim Cleric & Charged With Blasphemy

Rimsha Masih is an 11 year old Christian Pakistani girl with down syndrome. She is currently detained because she was accused of burning pages of the Qu'ran, which in Pakistan is blasphemy and is punishable by death. Today a Muslim cleric is being charged with framing her for the crime with allegations that he ripped pages out of the Qu'ran, burned them, and placed them in a bag of Rimsha's. Now, the cleric is being charged with blasphemy. There is pressure for Rimsha to be released to the custody of her family, although they have fled the area due to fear of being persecuted.Even though Rimsha may be released, there will still be a fear that Muslims in the region may seek "justice" of their own and hurt Rimsha.

Tensions between Christians and Muslims continue to worsen in the region.

This story is very sad in that a child with down syndrome was even sent to jail in the first place.

What do you think about blasphemy laws in Pakistan?

Police Brutality: Handcuffed Woman Beaten By L.A Police (VIDEO)

Michelle Jordan, a registered nurse from the Los Angeles area, was pulled over by the LAPD for talking on her cell phone while driving. This video shows the defenseless woman being slammed into the concrete twice by two police officers; once while handcuffed. She was charged with resisting arrest.

The occurrence of police brutality is all too common in the United States. It's disgusting. Instead of being fired and charged for their actions, one of the officers has been assigned to a desk job within the department. Know your rights and the laws in your area before it happens to you.

Police Kill 34 Miners; Then Charge The Rest of the Miners With Their Murders

On August 16th, 34 miners were killed by South African police close to Johannesburg. The miners were on strike and protesting low wages. Now, 270 miners are being charged with the murders that were committed by the South African police. To protest low wages and watch your fellow miners gunned down for doing so is bad enough. But to then be charged by the very law enforcement who is to blame for the murders is a disgrace to the human race. South African leaders should be ashamed and something must be done to protect these miners.

Self-Immolation: Tibetans Setting Themselves On Fire In China

According to Guardian news, there have been at least 40 Tibetans that have set themselves on fire in China since March 2011. This practice is called self-immolation and is in protest of policies that have been put into law by China's government which has a history of strict rule over Tibet. Many who do this are nuns and Buddhist monks in search of more religious freedom. The act of self-immolation seems to date back to the 1600s.

To protest in such a painful way signifies how badly these people desire more freedom for their people as a whole. Very sad.

This link allows you to click on each picture and gives you the stories of each person:

Afghanistan: 17 People Beheaded For Going To A Party

The Taliban beheaded 17 people for attending a party where there was music and dancing in the southern part of Afghanistan on Sunday night. Their bodies were found on the side of the road. This may seem extreme, but the Taliban adhere to a very strict form of Islam that does not allow for this type of behavior. When the Taliban did rule, most music was outlawed and attending a dance party was risking your life. Freedom in this region comes at a stiff price; something that drastically needs to change to ensure the safety of civilians.

What's really going on in Syria (Picture/Video)

Much of the world is oblivious as to what's actually taking place in Syria right now. The country is war-torn and the civilians are effected the most. Many are being killed everyday, including children. Al-Jazeera is reporting that a massacre recently took place in which more than 200 bodies have been found, (some outlets are reporting 300 bodies). The Syrian Army is accusing the government of conducting "house-to-house raids," going inside mosques and killing people left and right, execution style.

Christians Killed By Crucifixion In Egypt; Why Is The Rest Of The World Silent?

Egyptian Christians, known as Copts, are living their lives in fear and many are fleeing the country as jihad organizations are vowing to wipe out the entire Christian population of Egypt if they do not convert to Islam. These organization are handing out pamphlets that state their intentions; and are even offering money to those who kill or hurt the "enemies of Allah," (referring to Christians). They have already begun to do so as there have been reports of Christians being crucified in public areas in Egypt. Also, these groups are said to be going into Christian homes and killing entire families; including children. The same persecution of Christians is happening in Nigeria and other Islam-dominated areas of the world. In some parts, Christians are being murdered for public worship or converting to Christianity from Islam. Why is the rest of the world being silent?

The love of this world is truly growing cold. My heart goes out to each and every person in Egypt that is affected by this violence.

Second Class Citizens: No Driving For Women In Saudia Arabia

Saudia Arabia is the only country in the world where women cannot drive cars. There is no law specifying that women cannot legally drive, however they are usually jailed or heavily fined for getting behind the wheel. The rights of women are severely restricted as the written permission of a male guardian, such as a father or son, is required to do things such as work, travel, and marry. In fact, women cannot vote or even request a divorce.

Brandon Raub: Retired Marine Detained For Facebook Posts About Government

Retired marine Brandon J Raub, who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, was detained on August 16th in the United States. The FBI and Chesterfield Police Department in Virginia went to Raub's home after he posted various messages to his facebook page. After questioning Raub as to why he made the facebook posts, the FBI and Chesterfield Police Department took him to a mental facility where is being held until he goes before a judge on Monday, August 20th. Raub's family stated after his arrest that he is of sound mind, does not have PTSD, and is only expressing his opinion of the U.S government.

This case certainly brings up the issue of free speech and how it will effect citizens in the future.

Among other things on his facebook page, Raub stated the 9/11 attacks were orchestrated by the U.S government.

Raub posted on August 12th:
"There has been an overwhelming amount of evil enacted and planned against you, your children, and your countrymen. It is great in scope. Your government evil. It is as simple as that. And the calvary is coming."

Hunger Knows No Race Or Gender

It is estimated that there are currently 925 million people battling world hunger; that is 1 out of every 7 people in the world, (worldhunger.org). Truly, hunger knows no race or gender. We have iPads and the newest technology, yet every 3.6 seconds someone in this world dies from hunger. How is that so? How can this be okay in a world with so many resources and technological capabilities? Surely we can afford to feed the people of this world. Surely we can afford to go without an iPhone 5 or the newest clothing items in order to save a human life. Change starts with each and every one of us. We must make an effort to be aware and compassionate for the sake of human life.

Family Honor: A Look at Honor Killings

After beheading his own daughter with a sword in mid June, Ogad Singh paraded around his village in Rajasthan, India with her head. With the sword in one hand and her head in the other, Singh walked into the local police station and said he was not sorry for his actions. Why, you ask? She eloped with a man two weeks prior, and Singh needed to restore his family's honor. In this village, his daughter's actions are looked upon as shameful.

Unfortunately, these crimes are not unheard of. According to the United Nations, an average of 13 women a day are victims of honor-related killings all across the world.

Here is a video detailing the shocking crimes.

The Race For Humanity

What's in the news? Economic collapse. Unemployment. Famine. Homelessness and poverty. Senseless killings, such as the recent Colorado massacre. Police brutality towards defenseless women, infants, and men, such as what we've seen happen in Anaheim, California. "Zombie attacks." What is being glorified by the music industry? Drug addiction, murder, risky sex, and financial gain. But it's all okay, you know why? In exchange, we are given reality television, Facebook, awards shows, and any other form of entertainment that comes to mind that is directed towards the masses. What is wrong with this picture is that we as a people have become too distracted, unaware, and disconnected from these world events and have stopped asking questions. We have picked up our Ipads, logged onto social media, and agreed to turn a deaf ear on the tragedies that are occuring around us. We have become a society that has placed more concern on self and financial gain rather than on our purpose in life and the people around us.The greatest mistake that we can make is to refuse to think. Yes, this will be our ultimate downfall if we stand by and do nothing instead of taking action for the sake of humanity. We're waiting on the world to change, but change starts with self. Turn off your televisions, spend more time with your loved ones, use social media for a cause, and ask questions. Let's create change.
